Something's brewing in the heart of Pawling, NY

While BaklaJava started with drinks and dessert, customers requested and Betsy responded with an expanded menu which includes breakfast sandwiches on her homemade biscuits and lunch items including hot soup, grilled panini sandwiches and her already famous tarragon chicken salad. “The paninis are a huge hit and my team loves to create them so it’s delicious and fun for everyone.”

As you would expect, BaklaJava serves all varieties of espresso drinks including cappuccino and lattes, all of which can be served hot or iced and many that can be ordered sugar free. Smoothies and frozen blended drinks are also on the menu, with coffee or without. “I’d have to say that Frozen Hot Chocolate is our most popular cold drink and surprisingly, people order it all winter long,” Betsy reports.

Getting back to her roots, Betsy also offers the café’s namesake baklava as well as other Greek pastries when she has time to prepare them. “The shop is open 7 days per week, so it’s hard to have everything available all the time even though I have three bakers helping me,” she says. “But we are always happy to prepare special orders for our customers.”

If you’re not sure what to order, Betsy and her team are ready to help you choose just the right taste treats for yourself or your guests. BaklaJava’s breakfast baskets, custom cakes and party, meeting or gift dessert trays are as delicious as they are elegant. The 4-inch cakes are also very popular among customers who want to celebrate without going overboard.

If BaklaJava’s baked goods taste like something your grandmother made, it’s not an accident. “We’re very into vintage baking,” Betsy says. Buttercream and chocolate fudge layer cakes and cupcakes, specialty brownies, and their best seller, good old-fashioned chocolate chip cookies, will keep you coming back for more. BaklaJava, truly raising the coffee bar.
